Certified DSD Clinic

See your new smile before we begin

Dental Illusions is one of a select group of certified Digital Smile Design clinics. Your smile is designed around your face, in motion — and you test-drive it before anything is permanent.

Why design a smile digitally?

As a certified Digital Smile Design provider, Dr. Basil designs your new smile around your whole face — the way your lips move, your proportions, the way you actually smile — before any treatment begins.

Because a smile isn’t a row of teeth — it’s part of a moving face. Digital Smile Design starts with photography, video and 3D scans of you talking and laughing, and designs your new smile to fit that motion: the line of your lip, the proportions of your face, the way you actually smile. It replaces “let’s see how it turns out” with a plan you’ve already seen.

As a certified DSD Clinic, we plan cases with the DSD Planning Center — the same global standard used for the world’s most demanding cosmetic cases — and every major cosmetic and restorative plan in this practice runs through it.

The trial smile: wear it before you choose it

The step patients love most. Your designed smile is made into a thin overlay placed over your own teeth — no drilling, nothing permanent — so you can see it in the mirror, show your family, and live with it for a moment before deciding. Approve it, and that exact design guides your treatment. Want changes? They happen on screen, not in your mouth.

A certified DSD Clinic — one of a select group

Digital Smile Design is a specific, rigorous methodology, and certified DSD Clinics are a select group of practices worldwide trained and equipped to deliver it fully. Certification means your case is planned with the DSD Planning Center — the same global design team behind some of the most demanding smile transformations in modern dentistry — with Dr. Basil directing the design around you. It’s a different standard of planning than a shade guide and a hopeful conversation.

The journey, start to finish

First, records: photography, video of you speaking and laughing, and 3D scans — your smile in motion, not a frozen mold. Then the design: your new smile drafted digitally on your own face, reviewed together on screen where changing anything is still effortless. Then the part patients love — the trial smile: the design transferred to a mock-up placed over your real teeth, so you wear the result, look in the mirror, take photos, get opinions. Only when you approve does treatment begin, executed to the plan — whether that means veneers, bonding, orthodontics, implants, or a combination.

Why seeing it first changes everything

Most cosmetic disappointment traces to the same root: decisions made blind. DSD removes the blindfold. You approve the destination before the journey starts, every procedure serves one coordinated end picture instead of being improvised tooth by tooth, and function is designed alongside beauty — your bite, your speech, the way your lips move — because a smile that only photographs well isn’t finished. It’s planning as a form of honesty.

Good to know

DSD questions, answered

Is Digital Smile Design a treatment?

It’s the planning that makes treatments better. The dentistry itself might be veneers, bonding, aligners, implants or a combination — DSD is how we decide, with you, exactly what the end result will be before any of it starts.

What does the trial smile feel like?

A thin, temporary overlay on your own teeth — no anesthetic, no drilling, completely reversible. Most patients say the moment they see it in the mirror is when the decision makes itself, one way or the other.

Does DSD cost extra?

The design process is part of planning any significant cosmetic case here — your consultation quote covers it, in writing, so you’ll know the full figure before committing.

I’m not sure what I want my smile to look like. Is that a problem?

It’s the normal starting point. The design process exists to answer that question — you react to real previews of your own face rather than trying to describe an ideal from scratch.

How many visits does DSD planning take?

Typically two to begin: a records visit (photos, video, scans) and a design review where you see your new smile on screen — followed by the trial smile visit. It’s a deliberately unhurried front end that makes everything after it faster and surer.

Can DSD plan implant and full-arch cases?

Yes — it’s at its most valuable there. Designing the final smile first tells us exactly where implants should go to support it, which is how our full-arch patients know what they’re getting before surgery day.

What if I don’t like the trial smile?

Then it did its job. The trial smile exists to catch exactly that — we adjust the design and mock it up again. Nothing irreversible has happened to your teeth, which is the entire point of deciding this way.
